Children’s Theatre Performance “The Tailor of Words”

Now in its seventh consecutive year, this remarkable production has been performed more than 800 times.

The Theatre Company “Mikros Notos” brings to life Antonis Papatheodoulou’s beloved book “The Little Tailor of Words”, published by Metaixmio Publications, in a stage adaptation by Tina Giotopoulou, directed by Giorgos Tzavaras, with original music by Nikos Platyrachou and artistic supervision by Chryssa Diamantopoulou.

A contemporary fairy tale that has captured the hearts of children and adults alike, The Little Tailor of Words is a tender, moving, and timeless story about the power of words, the importance of human connection, and the love, comfort, and warmth that language can bring. The Mikros Notos Theatre Company transforms this much-loved story into a handcrafted theatrical experience. Combining live music, movement, audience interaction, and mime, the company creates a performance that is as warm and colourful as the tailor’s magical blanket, which ultimately embraces and warms every inhabitant of his town.

The Story:
Once upon a time, in a small town that still felt like a village, there lived a very special tailor. He was unique not only because he was the town’s only tailor, but because he made his clothes out of words. Carefully choosing the right words for each person, he stitched garments that kept everyone warm in winter and cool in summer. As the years passed, the town grew larger, and its people became busier and more forgetful. Eventually, they forgot all about the little tailor. Then came a winter so harsh that none of their new clothes could keep them warm. Only then did they remember the tailor who had once woven words with such care—and warmth returned to their lives. For it is words that ultimately warm, soothe, comfort, and bring every heart back to life.

About the Theatre Company “Mikros Notos”:
Founded in 2012, the Mikros Notos Theatre Company creates interactive performances featuring live music played on familiar, traditional, and original musical instruments. Its productions draw inspiration from stories, myths, legends, and folktales rooted in Greek oral tradition. “We create performances from the heart, with responsibility and respect, always placing the child at the centre of our work,” says Chryssa Diamantopoulou, actor, Theatre in Education specialist, and Artistic Director of the Mikros Notos Theatre Company.
