Let us assume that•
All relations in nature are governed by a single, primal relationship—the relation of one
extreme to the other.
If we conceive these two extremes as manifestations of interiority and exteriority, we will
find that within this ‘stone’, the bond uniting spirit with life remains unbroken.
Thus, instead of regarding it as a negation of truly living life, we shall view it as a reconciliation of the dualism between matter and void.

Research Component
•The research and implementation of this work begin on the occasion of this line of
thought, in combination with the reference of Pierre Curie, who notes the following significant fact:
“The characteristic of a phenomenon is the maximum symmetry compatible with the existence of the phenomenon. A phenomenon can exist in a medium that possesses its
own symmetry or the symmetry of one of the subgroups of its characteristic symmetry. In
other words, certain elements of symmetry can coexist with certain others, but they are
not necessary. What is necessary, is that certain elements of symmetry do not exist. It is
dissymmetry that creates the phenomenon. When several phenomena of a different nature
are superimposed, their dissymmetries are added, and in the final total, only the symmetry
elements common to all the individual phenomena remain.”
Geoheritage includes those elements of Earth’s geodiversity (rocks, minerals, fossils,
landforms, sediments, water, and soils) that are considered to hold significant scientific,
educational, cultural, or aesthetic value. As Carcavilla et al. state, “Geological-geomorphological heritage is the collection of geotopes, deposits, forms, and processes that comprise
the geological history of each region, and the concept of preserving geological-geomorphological heritage is a cultural concept.” Geoheritage aims to highlight the diversity of our
planet in order to demonstrate the importance of biotic and abiotic factors, which document
the historical evolution of the Earth. The value of geological heritage is further underscored
in a UNESCO report, according to which geological heritage is characterized as the sum
of the most interesting geological sites (geotopes, geoparks, and geological natural monuments) that deserve to be preserved for scientific, educational, historical, aesthetic, and
cultural reasons.

The work is developed as a mixed-media diptych composition, consisting of a canvas and
a smaller wooden stretcher frame. The color palette is derived from earth pigments collected from Serifos (Avessalos bend, Avessalos beach, Evangelistria, Mega Livadi bend,
Mega Livadi wagons), which were stabilized using 100% natural binders. The intense
structural quality and the textured, relief surface are enhanced by the integration of a
handmade, artificial stone of my own creation
