Navel of the World Ι / Navel of the World ΙΙ
The artwork is a symbolic connection to the nucleus of the earth and its birth matter. Created with clay, wedged with soil and rocks from the serifian land, it bears the traces of the island not only as a reference but as a literal incorporation. The same minerals were also used to make ash glazes, adding a natural palette to the piece that highlights the roughness and authenticity of the land. The artwork opens a dialogue with the idea of roots, of grounding, of origin, focusing on the “navel” as a point of union between heaven and earth, man and landscape.
