Ιn this ceramic composition, narrative scenes from the mining history of Serifos—the his-
toric miners’ strike of 1916 and Konstantinos Speras—together with figures and symbols drawn from mythology—Perseus and Medusa—are surrounded by motifs inspired by the
folk ceramic traditions of the Aegean islands. The work emerged from, and at the same time revisits, an unresolved question: how are these figures connected, and how do they shape the island’s identity?

Konstantina Lazaridou
Konstantina Lazaridou was born and raised in Amyntaio, Florina, Greece. She studied
painting and sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts between 2018 and 2024. Clay is the primary material in her work, where sculpture often intertwines with painting. Her prac-
tice is characterized by forms and motifs strongly influenced by folk tradition and the natural environment. Many of her works, as well as her diploma project, have been installed as interventions in public spaces in cities and rural villages in Greece and Europe.
