“One story, two narrations”
The surface of Serifos is bathed in sun and color, but its underground is dark and full of hidden secrets. People with hard work and sometimes their lives made this immense network of arcades that crosses the island from one side to the other. But all these arcades always end up in the light, where the same geological formation causes our admiration with their colors and patterns.
In my work, I tried to visualize this contrast, these two aspects of Serifos, which coexist and complement each other for thousands of years

Ifigenia Tsirou
Ifigenia Tsirou lives and works in Thessaloniki, Greece. Her involvement with ceramics started in 2010, when she decided to quit her previous job as an Account Manager in an advertising company.
Since then, and simultaneously with the creation of her personal work, she is running a ceramics production company, Hakah Ceramics, and a ceramics gallery in Thessaloniki, 6exi Contemporary Ceramics.
Her work is based on simple forms, often altered. Emphasis is given on the surfaces that are created and also on decoration, in such a way as to include the functionality of the final work.
