Clay is the right material to essentially give a living effect by shaping, drilling, carving, adding, or subtracting. The Japanese philosophy, as well as the &#8220;action painting&#8221; movement, activated me to become creative in this way. I let myself experiment on clay without much thought, spontaneously recording my movements and gestures, so that the feelings of the given moment are finally revealed.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The term &#8220;bowel&#8221; signifies this internal creative process, which is inspired by the mines of Serifos where, in its bowels, we can still discover minerals with crystalline formations. I&#8217;m interested in any kind of trace whether it comes from the melting of the glasses at high temperature, or from the imprint of my fingers or a tool. Everything is a mark, a handwriting and a personal signature. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I tried to incorporate the special elements found in the land of Serifos, such as ore and rocks, working with an almost alchemical approach, using sand and gravels in different granulometries from Megalo Livadi, Gefira and Vagonia.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The common denominator of all is the surprise, the unexpected. This element is embraced unconditionally without the fear of losing what was designed.\u00a0 There is a need to discover the unknown and let it develop within the piece of work. If you can&#8217;t control an outcome completely, it&#8217;s better to discover the beauty of randomness. After all, what matters most to me is the journey from the raw mass of clay to the final form.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element His first contact with clay came very early, as a third generation ceramist. He studied graphic arts but he finally chose ceramics as a means of expression. From 2007 to 2009 he attended technology and sculpture-ceramic courses with Kostas Tarkasis and Menandros Papadopoulos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He mainly experiments with alternative firing techniques and Raku, creating sculptural forms in which traces of fire are strongly imprinted.
