These materials were incorporated into a white clay body, forming the material from which the base of the sculpture was shaped. Through this choice, the island\u2019s own soil becomes the foundation of the composition.<\/p><p data-start=\"397\" data-end=\"787\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">An organic form emerges from this base, referencing the sea and the sky\u2014two elements inseparable from the idea and experience of island life. The coexistence of these two parts seeks to convey the relationship between land and water, not through a literal representation of the landscape, but through the use of the materials themselves and 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I was born in Athens, in 1982. I was just a few days old when my family moved to Siros - this wondrous island which became this journey's point of departure and where I spent the first 11 years of my life.\u00a0Siros\u00a0offered me a unique sense of freedom and a deep appreciation of art as an essential part of the quotidien. It is the memory of that place that brings me back to my raw state; It reminds me of who I am and who I want to be.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In 2000 I entered Speech Therapy school. What I soon realised was that no two individuals, despite having the same \"diagnosis\", are ever the same. Every person is unique in the way they deal with their communication disorders and in the way they react to the therapist's stimuli. It is for this reason that as a speech pathologist I always seek to explore new approaches, practices and methods. The process is challenging, but undoubtedly creative.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In 2017 I started ceramics with Yannis Mamoutzis.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It started off as a hobby, it later became a pressure valve - my own healthy outlet. It evolved into a passion which I am thankful I brought into my life.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As a ceramist I mainly work with stoneware, occasionally with porcelain too.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I draw my inspiration from my childhood memories; Siros's cycladic light streaming in through the shutters, the smell of bare earth, the pastel hues, its neoclassical architecture.
